The Fair Finance Institute (FaFin) is a non-profit think-and-do tank based in Heidelberg and Berlin that advocates for a sustainable, fair, and future-oriented monetary and financial system. FaFin implements scientific research, educational, and design projects focused on the socio-ecological transformation of the financial and currency system and connects people, organizations, and scientific disciplines for this purpose. FaFin operates at the intersection of science, business, politics, and civil society, and develops practical solutions and new models of thought for a financial sector that serves people and the environment in collaboration with partners. In addition to research and publications, FaFin offers information and educational formats, organizes discussion and dialogue formats, and initiates networks for sustainable financial innovation. The goal: A financial and monetary system that once again fulfills its societal purpose while integrating social and ecological criteria.
At the Fair Finance Institute, we believe that our money and financial system must be fundamentally adapted to the real world and its challenges – ecologically, socially, and economically. FaFin works trans- and interdisciplinary on research and practice projects that reflect and transform the role of money, markets, and financial institutions in society. FaFin connects theory and practice, creates learning and experience spaces, and promotes dialogue and cooperation across sectors and borders.
FaFin has set itself the mission of researching, designing, and making a sustainable, fair, and future-oriented financial and monetary system practically tangible. To this end, it develops new concepts together with others, networks with partners from civil society, science, and politics, and contributes to ensuring that the financial system fulfills its actual purpose – supporting real life and a fair development logic – once again.
You work with FaFin on scientific projects that delve deeply into the mechanisms of our monetary and financial system, analyze current challenges, and develop new solutions – always with the aim of combining ecological and social sustainability with economic efficiency.
FaFin promotes education and exchange on sustainable financial design through events, training, publications, and networking formats. You gain access to discourses, new models of thinking, and knowledge that helps to rethink the financial system.
Together with partners, FaFin develops practical models, concepts, and solutions for financial regulation, sustainable financial products, and systemic transformations that help make financial and economic life fairer and more resilient.
FaFin connects people, initiatives, and organizations from science, politics, civil society, and business, thereby promoting structural collaborations that advance sustainable financial transformation.
